DESCRIPTION
The project Nichelino Base Alpha started out from considerations about the habitability of public spaces by young people.
Through meetings and workshops with a group of young people living in the Castello district of Nichelino and with the designer Martino Gamper, the aim of the project was to create a family of furnishings that could give a unified identity to the places where people socialize. Seats and shelters were made mainly of discarded materials that were stored in municipal warehouses: old road signs, advertising posters, lighting and disused furnishings were transformed, upon commission from the young participants, into a sort of gazebo-sculpture and some seating.
The project is a co-production by Eco e Narciso and a.titolo in the New Patrons programme, and is promoted by the City of Nichelino, by the Province of Turin, by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin and by The French Foundation and with the technical support of the local companies.
Martino Gamper was assisted by the AUT collective.
