Eco e Narciso. Material Culture/Music involves the contribution of 8 internationally acclaimed experimental musicians and sound artists, who have been commissioned five site-specific sound installations – one for each location selected among the eco-museum network of the Provincia di Torino – starting from the feature of the eco-museum.
The project involved a preliminary study phase that revolves around the musicians’ residency in those locations allowing them to blend in with the local daily life carrying out activities such as recording sounds in those areas. These sounds were subsequently edited into the installations shown to a large national and international audience from July to September 2006. 10,000 copies of CDs “Presenze sonore” were distributed along with the international magazine The Wire.
